A: Bristle boards contain a thin wire (called a spider) to mark the areas of the target. A lot of these wires are attached the board by staples. A staple free bullseye means there are no staples holding the wires around the bullseye. The wires are embedded in the bristle. It's a cleaner look and gives the dart throwers a better chance of hitting the bullseye w/o the risk of hitting a staple that may cause unnecessary bounce outs.
